Contribuição para o estudo do ganho de peso de bovinos zebus.
Resumo
Foram coletados, durante um decênio,
os resultados obtidos tias “Provas de Ganho de Peso, realizadas anualmente, nas
quais concorreram 433 machos e 265 fêmeas das raças Guzerá, Nelore, Indubrasil
e Gir e interpretados estatisticamente os dados relativos aos animais pertencentes
à Fazenda Experimental de Criação, em Sertãozinho, no que tange ao ganho de
pêso e à eficiência o ganho.Verificaram-se grandes diferenças individuais. iio se
notaram diferenças apreciáveis na capacidade de ganho e eficiência entre as 3 primeiras
raças, e estabeleceu-se que os ganhos médios e a eficiência de ganho dos
animais da raça Gir foram inferiores aos das outras raças estudadas,Os machos das raças interpretadas demonstraram maior
capacidade de ganho de pêso, bem como melhor eficiência do que as fêmeas.

Abstract
Studying
the behavior of the animals which took part in the feeding tests, carried out
from 1951 to 1960, in
the State of São Paulo, the following conclusions were reached:1. In the four breeds studied, big
individual differences were acertamed between bovoids of the same race. Amongst
the cornpetitors there were not seidom animais putting three times more weight
on;2. There
are no aprreciabie differences regarding the weight gaining capacity between
the Neiiore, Guzerath and Indubrazil breeds;3. The average
weight gain of individuais of the Gyr breeds is lower than that àf the Neliore,
Guzerath and Indubrazil ones;4. The
weight gaining efficiency of the representatives of the Neliore, Guzerath and
Indubrazil races is 011 the sarne level;5. The
weight gaining efficiency of the Gyr breed is significantly inferioi to that of
the other races;6. The
males of the Neilore, Guzerath, Indubrazil and Gyr races are more capable of
putting weight on than the respective females.
